Sometimes Being Special Just Sucks..

Do you ever feel like running away? Just running and running and never stopping until all of your problems are gone? Let me tell you, I feel like that a lot lately. Pretty much every day. I just feel like an outsider everywhere I go. I don’t feel welcome anywhere. Anywhere except modeling, modeling makes me not only feel beautiful on the outside, but more importantly, on the inside. Far too much, we focus on how we look on the outside every day. We become obsessed with how our hair looks, if our makeup looks good. Have you ever looked in the mirror, and I mean truly looked at yourself, inside and out, and been able to say, “I’m beautiful.” It’s hard, believe me, I’m not even there yet. When I started modeling, I literally felt separated from my high school life, my friends and everything. I felt/feel as if I don’t belong. Which in a way I don’t, I don’t fit in anywhere. But isn’t that the point of life? Isn’t the whole point not to fit in? To be original and stand out? My entire life I have always wanted to fit in. I have actually cried myself to sleep at night desperately wanting that acceptance. But you know what I have realized? Sometimes you have to walk by yourself for a while, to find out who you are. Recently I have just accepted the fact that I will never fit in. I will never be perfect either. I daydream about my Prince Charming, I sing in the shower, and yes I dance around in my pajamas in the morning while trying to pick out an outfit. But guess what? Even if no one particularly likes me for me, I like me. And I like all of me. And that ‘s the whole point is the four SUCK years in high school. You are supposed to figure out who you are. And now that I know, I won’t let anyone break me down ever again. And you shouldn’t either. You are beautiful. If you can accept that, you can take on practically anything life throws at you. “You can take everything I have you can break everything I am like I’m made of glass like I’m made of paper go on and try to tear me down I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper..”  -Demi Lovato, “Skyscraper”

Makeup

Smoky eye, 60's cat eye, natural, red lips..There are so many possibilities with makeup. And as a model, I have tried to experiment with each and every one of them. Below I have featured the 3 most popular, (In my opinion)..
This is a dark, navy blue smoky eye. I do this one quite a bit! I love to pair it with a classic white button down and dark wash jeans. Classic :]
This one is a brown smoky eye. I do this one literally ALL THE TIME! I love to do brown and green with it however. You apply dark brown eyeshadow to the outer lid, and then on the inner lid, I apply a sparkly jade green. It looks gorgeous with anything green :]
This one is known as the "neutral eye". I personally don't do this one very much. But I have tried it, and it does look very nice and casual with a glossy lip and cute sundress!
And this one, clearly is the BAM, pop of red on your lips. I have tried this one, and on me, it doesn't look great at all! But, on the right person, with the right outfit and occasion, it looks amazing! For example, you see this look a LOT on the red carpet paired with a neutral dress and minimal accessories.
Makeup is a great thing, and I love using it! It is designed to enhance your natural beauty, not to cover it up. Just remember, when testing new makeup looks, try not to look like a clown. :]
If you are unsure how to use your makeup, check out Sephora, in JC Penny in River dale. They will give you a free consultation on how to use your makeup properly.

Exercise And Diet

Being healthy and fit is a very big part of being a model. Stars Talent Studio's motto is "Being a Healthy Role Model in the Media". And in order to do so 100%, you have to eat healthy as well as exercise. I don't particularly follow a strict diet plan every day. What I try to do however, is have 3 servings of fruit and vegetables every day, and lower my intake in carbohydrates, oils and sugars. When I first decided I was going to eat healthier, I made a pact to myself that every time I craved sugar, or fast food I would eat an apple. Even if I didn't crave one, or if I had already had 3 that day. After a couple weeks of following this pact, I began to not crave sugar, oils or fast food. In fact, every time I pass a Wendy's (Which is my personal favorite fast food place!), I actually get a little sick to my stomach, because I know, if I have fast food then I have to have an apple. This may not work for everyone, but I would suggest that if you have a problem eating sugar and fast food, you should try something like this. It sure worked for me :]
Now for exercise. I have learned the hard way that you just have to use the process of elimination to find the workout routine that works for you. For me personally, I do a pilates workout video for 1/2 hour in the morning, and then at night, I do a 1/2 hour of yoga. And then if I get bored of doing that everyday, I will mix it up by jumping rope for 15 minutes (Which burns 200 calories!!) and then doing the pilates for only 15 minutes. I love pilates for me because I naturally, have huge thigh muscles, so I don't need to build muscle, I need to tone it down. And pilates is really good for that. Here is one of the poses that is included in the video I own, which is Winsor Pilates: Advanced Body Slimming.

Wardrobe and Style

"Dressing well and appropriately shows professionalism. No one wants to end up looking like a badly stuffed sausage!" -Amber Evans, Stars Talent Studio
Getting dressed in the morning is pretty much my favorite part of the day. I enjoy putting together different outfits and seeing which ones go together and which ones don't. But, sometimes we can take this to the extreme, and our clothes become our identity. We have to make sure that our outer beauty matches our inner beauty. Clothes are meant to increase our natural beauty, not to diminish. I am now going to share some tips that we learned in modeling about discovering your style.
1. Identify your authentic wardrobe style. Here all Stars Talent Studio's 13 Most Authentic Styles!
Look 1: Basic Casual- Jeans and T-Shirts, cotton twill, layered clothing, loafers, sandals, etc...
Look 2: Sporty Casual- Athletic wear, work out sweats, dressy velour sweats, outdoor clothing, tennis shoes, etc..
Look 3: Sophisticated Casual: Up scale designer t-shirts and jeans, preppy, polo shirts, khaki's, jeweled tops.
Look 4: Retro Casual- Vintage, grungy, alternative, relaxed fit, or old trends. T-shirts can be funky and different.
Look 5: Ultra Feminine-  Ruffles, lace, and feminine fabrics, and floral patterns. Softer, feminine, and fluid, draped dressings.
Look 6: Glamorous- Think Barbie! Rich fabrics with texture or diamonds, glitzy clothing, animal prints, silk, satins, splashy or chunky jewelry, dresses/gowns, flashy suits, shiny colors, bling...
Look 7: Classic and Tailored- Timeless clothing, tailored styles, conservative cuts and colors. This style had qualities from the sophisticated casual and high fashion looks. Think, Audrey Hepburn!
Look 8: Trendy and Chic- This look is commonly featured on the catwalk. Words that describe this look would be high fashion, lots of black, chic, and latest fashions.
Look 9: Professional- Dress suits, pant suits, blouses, high heels. This look is seen on the women who keeps her work wardrobe modern or wants to stay fashion forward.
Look 10: Uniquely Expressive- This is combining vintage and expressive styles. Expressive clothing sends some type of message or has vibrant colors. vintage clothing is authentic clothing from the 1920's-1970's.
Look 11: Upscale Earthy- Khaki's, creams, whites, natural fabrics. You know, the typical clothes you see in ads with a couple walking along the beach!
Look 12: Metro Western- This is a glamorous style of country. Red high fashion country boots, patterned ruffled blouses, cowboy hats, designer fitted jeans, etc...

Skin Care

Pimples, blackheads, oily skin. All of those terrible things that make putting makeup on each morning a drag. I have learned that if you have terrible skin in modeling, you have to photoshop a LOT more, thus costing whatever company you are modeling for more money. So, I began the search for the perfect face wash, lotion and clay mask. And I found it! If you have terribly awful skin, check out the Body Shop! All of their makeup and skin care products are organic, which of course, is always better for your skin. The Products I use are...

Hair

Since I started doing modeling, I have attempted to style my hair different ways. Styling your hair a different way, or even changing your part, can give you the satisfaction a brand new haircut, without actually having to cut your hair. I have also noticed that changing the way you do your hair helps with stress. Sounds completely insane I know, but it works! Below are some of the hair styles I wish to try or have already tried.
Here is a "loose bun" hairstyle that I pretty much do all the time. I love it because it can look either super casual, or you can dress it up, like how they did it in the picture with a double headband.
I also have recently gotten into the look of tiny braids! They are super cute and had fun to any casual outfit. But instead of using the hair elastics at the end, simply spray heat protectant at the end, and the flat iron to seal the look. I personally love these with minimal makeup and a sundress :]
And I absolutely LOVE a cute flower headband with curls, it's just so cute and feminine. What I do after I curl my hair, is I gently comb through my curls and add volumizing gel. It creates a very relaxed curl.
Now in order to keep my hair healthy so I can keep experimenting with different hairstyles, I try to..
*Keep my split ends in check
*Use heat protectant spray before blow drying or flat ironing hair
*Try to avoid using heat every single day
Having healthy hair is simply wonderful! I hope these tips can help you get the best hair possible. :]

Modeling

I have just recently gotten into Modeling and I simply LOVE it! I haven't ever really been particularly good at anything..so I got into Theatre and I really enjoyed it! My favorite part of it all was when the lights got turned on, the audience went silent, and the curtain went up. Ever since I saw Wicked in Chicago, I knew I always wanted to do something with acting for the rest of my life. But, acting is a very competitive business so I sort of let go of my dream and began to pursue fashion. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE fashion, every morning when I wake up, my favorite part is getting dressed. It's like creating new art every day! The talent agency I work for has open call every Friday from 12:00-6:00pm to see new talent. A women in my neighborhood, Deb, messaged me on facebook and told me I would be great for modeling and that I should check it out. Now, my whole life, I had been told, "You are gorgeous!" But never had I considered modeling, I honestly didn't think I was pretty enough. But after I went in on Friday and got signed on and everything. Even that, just getting signed one. Having someone want me. I just felt so incredible and my self confidence just soared after that. It may sound silly to be so happy over just getting signed on. But my whole life I have always missed my chance by that much. There was always someone who was better than me, at everything. But modeling, modeling was my thing. And I adore it, and would love to it for as long as possible. I would have to say, my favorite part of modeling is getting to try all of the new makeup. Each week, when I go to lessons at Stars Talent Studio to become a better model, we are told to try new makeup, and have different hair each week. I love experimenting with hair and makeup! It's great fun! Well, to end this ramble session about modeling, here is a quote about modeling from fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent...
A good model can advance fashion by ten years.” Yves Saint Laurent
